Highlights of the Orient

DAY 1: GAZIANTEP
Scheduled flight with Turkish Airlines to Gaziantep. Reception by the tour guide. Ride to the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Gaziantep.

DAY 2: GAZIANTEP - KAHTA
In the morning we visit one of the worlds most important mosaic museums. Gaziantep Museum houses the magnificent mosaics of the famous Roman city of Zeugma. Then we drive to Kahta. After a short break we drive with off-road cars to see the gods of Mount Nemrut. At an altitude of 2150 m we are experiencing up to 10 m high statues of the Kingdom of Commagene. Dinner and overnight in Kahta.

DAY 3: KAHTA – CAPPADOCIA
Today we drive via Kahramanmaras and Kayseri on to Cappadocia. In Kahramanmaras we take a stroll through the famous coppersmith bazaar. Places of interest in Kayseri are Hunat Hatun Mosque and continue to Cappadocia. Dinner and 3 nights in Cappadocia.

DAY 4: CAPPADOCIA
After breakfast we drive to the famous open-air museum of Göreme. Here are the most beautiful churches with unique frescoes of Byzantine art. After an easy hike through a valley in the tufa area, we visit the Old City of Cavusin. Then we make photo breaks in the region.

DAY 5: CAPPADOCIA
In the morning we go to an underground city, a former place of refuge of the Christians. Here, the early Christians in Anatolia were hiding from foreign aggressors. Then we visit a typical carpet weaving center of Cappadocia to enjoy the colorful world of carpets. With photo breaks we end the day.

DAY 6: CAPPADOCIA – ISTANBUL
In the morning we fly to Istanbul with Turkish Airlines. In Istanbul, we visit the Topkapi Palace: From here, the Ottomans ruled their vast empire. There are unimaginable treasure hidden in the various areas of this unique palace. One of the highlights of Istanbul, of course is the Grand Bazaar. Here we see the largest and most magnificent covered bazaar in Turkey. Dinner and 2 nights in Istanbul.

DAY 7: ISTANBUL
The day we start with a visit to the Hippodrome, the former racecourse. It has been the center of the entertainment and art pieces from around the world adorn this place. Not far is the magnificent work of Ottoman religious architecture: The Sultan Ahmet Mosque from the 17th C. Also known as the Blue Mosque in Istanbul this icon hides the synthesis of all the previously used architectural forms. Then we visit Hagia Sophia from the year 537, which is one of the largest churches in the world. A nice bus ride along the Bosphorus is waiting for us. Optionally, we can turn the trip into a dream boat trip through the Bosporus. Here we have the opportunity to move along the palace complexes between two continents.

DAY 8: DEPARTURE
Transfer to airport and flight back home.
